Draft Sleepers

Here’s a quick list of sleepers I like. When I say sleeper, I mean players that will return great value for their draft position, meaning they’ll contribute at the Major League level.

Miles Hamblin, C, Howard JC (TX)
Derek McCallum, 2B, Minnesota
Jonathan Walsh, C, Coppell HS (TX)
Beau Wright, LHP, Los Alamitos HS (CA)
Brice Cutspec, 1B, Azusa Pacific
Drew Madrigal, RHP, Mount San Jacinto JC (CA)
Joe Sanders, 3B, Auburn
Jason Walls, RHP, Troy
Brint Hardy, OF, UAB
Stephen Richards, LHP, Arkansas
Richard Jones, C, The Citadel
Nick Hernandez, LHP, Tennessee

I’ll mention more as we go along, but I generally like each of these guys. Some might not sign, so keep that in mind.

  1. Not familiar with all these guys but I am also high on Derek McCallum from MIN. What Round do you perceive he will go?

    • He could sneak into the last round today (3rd). But I really see him as a 4th-5th rounder.

      • I was thinking round 5 or so…so I was close. I would love to see the Cards snag him…but there are alot of players I would love to see my Cards grab and they only have so many picks in the first 5-6 rounds!

  3. I know its a little late but I was wondering what you thought on LHP Daniel Calhoun, a 29th round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals who had an outstanding year for Murray State throwing 10 complete games and walking next to nobody. He has carried it over to pro ball. Do you think he has a shot at making it to the majors?
