Travel Day Open Thread

Got married and I’m driving down to our new place in Atlanta. Post any questions or observations you might have, and I’ll check in on my phone as the day goes along.

  2. Any relevant signings from the royals yet?

    • Their best signing so far is their sixth-rounder Cole White, a righty from U. of New Mexico, a very nice sleeper pick by them. They’ve signed the next handful of picks after that, too. It will be the deadline until we see how they do with the likes of Aaron Crow or Wil Myers.

      • it’s been hinted that Myers is already in the bag. the commish won’t approve the contract until the deadline though because it’s way overslot. no print source but it’s a guy i really trust who is almost never wrong. told me the same thing about Melville at this point last year.

take it for what it’s worth. also Dwyer was at Kauffman for a visit recently…meet some of the players, throw a ‘pen, watch the game…not sure what that means.

  3. Congrats on the marraige and welcome down South! How much do you think the July 2nd international signings will either hold back or slow down the process of inking top picks from the draft? Are those two budgets mutually exclusive?

    • The two budgets are usually independent, though large numbers of high-priced draftees or international signees can have an effect. It just usually has to be more extreme. As for timing, I don’t think the negotiating hampers the speed with which picks sign. Once July 2 has gone, very little large negotiating is done internationally.

  5. Congratulations!
Any thoughts yet on Aroldis Chapman? Strasburg comparisons legitimate or uncalled for?
